Pair of armchairs
Period: Second half of the 18th century
Pair of elegant walnut armchairs, Genoa, second half of the 18th century, in a moment of stylistic transition; in fact, we can identify a language perfectly balanced between the memories of the Rococo and references to the classical antiquity of Neoclassicism. Finely carved structure with a moving shape, truncated-cone fluted legs that end with an elegant globe foot. The seat and back, padded and covered with a sober fabric, are topped by a foliage festoon that decorates a medallion containing a Roman profile. Perfect example of Genoese aristocratic taste!
