Magnificent sculpture carved in Carrara marble depicting the bust of a philosopher stylistically attributable to the Venetian sculptor Giovanni Comin (Treviso circa 1647 – Venice 1695) “…Comini Scultor famoso.” [Il ritratto overo Le cose piu notabili di Venezia, D. Martinelli, 1705, p 33]  Important prominent figure active in the seventeenth century in the Veneto (together with colleagues Giusto Le Court, Michele Fabris known as l’Ongaro, Orazio Marinali) we find his works in Padua, Treviso, Udine and Venice. Our bust is characterized by a careful expressiveness of the face and a realistic anatomy of the body; splendidly executed in perfect harmony, it emotionally involves the observer.
