Period: Early 18th century
Perfect condition for this traditionally shaped lustral water bucket made of cast, embossed, and chiseled silver sheet. A smooth circular foot supports a rounded body, gadrooned in the lower part, richly decorated with plant motifs in the upper part; two ornamental motifs on the edge, in the shape of masks, support the rings into which the sturdy handle with scrolls is inserted, at the center of which is the apical ring.
There are the three marks of Neapolitan silverware, that of the city of Naples the "NAP with crown" [I Marchi dell’argenteria napoletana dal XV al XIX secolo, E. Catello / C. Catello, Franco Di Mauro Editore srl, 1996, pg 15], the consular stamp "Michelangelo Di Massa" active in 1700 and in 1702 [ibidem, pg 31] and the punch of the master silversmith "Giovan Angelo Scognamiglio" [ibidem, pg 89]. The warranty assay is also present on each part. Perfect condition.
