Pair of silver candlesticks Torretta 1751 - SOLD
Period: First half of the 18th century
Beautiful and elegant pair of embossed Genoese silver candlesticks from the 18th century, hallmarked with the "Torretta" mark and dated (1)751. The wide circular base with shaped edges is decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, three larger and three smaller alternating and connected to each other by ribs. The foot band is decorated with a molded edge. From the acanthus leaves in the center rises the stem, with a triangular section, also decorated with pellacce motifs (also present on the candle holder). The model used for these two specimens is very similar to a pair of candlesticks published in the catalogue Argenterie genovesi, Tav. 184, G. Morazzoni, Milan, Alfieri, 1953. Dimensions: 26.5 cm
