A large, decorative mask, often sculpted from stone or other durable material, designed to be incorporated into a fountain. These masks typically served as the spout from which water flowed, and were often embellished with mythological figures, grotesque faces, or other ornate designs. They were a common feature in Renaissance and Baroque gardens and public spaces, adding an element of artistry and grandeur to water features.
