Silver Egoiste
Period: 18th century
Measures H x L x P
Small coffee maker made of embossed silver Torretta (1)760, pear-shaped body with vertical ribs, a motif also found in the circular base and in the decoration of the lid. The wooden handle, a material that insulates from heat, is shaped, ebonized and carved. Also called "égoïste" from the French "egoist", it was intended for private use. Its small size, with a capacity sufficient for a single cup, was selfishly sufficient for a single drinker. Rare, in excellent condition, it is a fragment of daily life that captures the refinement and intimacy of an eighteenth-century coffee. Dimensions: height 17 cm - g 337
